First Launch

Get up and running in under 5 minutes.

1. Download & Install

Download the installer for your platform from the Download page.

  • Windows: Run the .exe installer. Ravenburst installs to your user directory — no admin rights needed.
  • macOS: Open the .dmg and drag Ravenburst to Applications.
  • Linux: Make the .AppImage executable (chmod +x) and run it.

2. Start Your Free Trial

On first launch, Ravenburst connects to our server to register a 7-day free trial for your machine. No account, no credit card required.

If you're offline, the app will start in offline mode — the trial begins once you connect to the internet.

3. Create Your First Project

Click File → New Project or use the startup screen. You'll be asked to:

  1. Choose a project type — Novel, Screenplay, Academic Paper, Children's Book, and more
  2. Name your project
  3. Choose where to save the .wrytr file

Ravenburst creates a pre-structured project based on your template — chapters, scenes, characters, and reference sections all ready to go.

4. Start Writing

Click any document in the Navigator on the left to open it in the editor. Everything saves automatically every 3 seconds.

The status bar at the bottom shows your word count, save status, zoom level, and license status at a glance.

5. Activate Your License

When you're ready to buy, go to Pricing. After purchase you'll receive an activation code by email.

Enter it via Help → Enter Activation Code. Your license works on up to 3 devices.
