Writing Targets & Statistics

Track your progress, set goals, and understand your manuscript at a glance.

Project Targets

Open via Project → Project Targets or Ctrl+Shift+T.

Two goals you can set:

  • Manuscript Target — your total word count goal for the finished project. The progress bar fills as you write and turns green when you hit it. Only words in compiled documents (chapters and scenes marked for compile) count toward this total.
  • Session Target — words written in the current writing session. This resets automatically at midnight. Click the ↺ button to reset it manually at any time.

Set either target to 0 to hide its progress bar. Targets are saved per machine, not per project file — so you can set different daily goals on different computers.

Statistics

Open via Project → Statistics.

Switch between Compiled only (documents marked for export) and All documents (everything in the project).

The Word Frequency section at the bottom shows your 20 most-used words (common English words filtered out), which can be useful for spotting overused vocabulary.

Writing History

Open via Project → Writing History.

Writing History tracks how many words you've written each day you have the project open. It shows:

  • Current Streak — consecutive days with at least one word written
  • Total Written — cumulative words added across all sessions
  • Days Recorded — total days with writing activity
  • Bar chart — the last 30 days at a glance, bars scaled to your best day
  • Session Log — full table of words written and total manuscript words per day

Writing history is stored per project — each project file maintains its own log. History accumulates automatically; there's nothing to configure.
